Srinagar Police Busted Major Terror Module: Female Associate Among Four OGWs Apprehended in Hazratbal
Srinagar | Great X Kashmir News Desk In a significant breakthrough for the security grid in the valley, Srinagar Police on Wednesday night dismantled a major network of militant associates. During a high-stakes operation in the Hazratbal area, security forces apprehended four Over Ground Workers (OGWs), including a female associate, who were allegedly providing critical support to militant activities in the city.
Midnight Operation in Hazratbal
According to official sources, the operation was carried out following specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of militant sympathizers. A team from Srinagar Police launched a targeted search in the Hazratbal locality, leading to the arrest of four individuals identified as:
Zahoor Ahmad Mir
Bashir Ahmad Bhat
Ghulam Mohammad Bhat
Shazia Mohammad (Female Associate)
All the apprehended individuals are reported to be residents of the Hazratbal area
Recovery of Arms and Ammunition
The security forces recovered a cache of arms and logistics from the possession of the arrested OGWs. The recovery includes:
One Hand Grenade
15 Rounds of AK-47 Ammunition
4 Mobile Phones
Cash (Incriminating amount)
A senior police official told Great X Kashmir that the module was instrumental in providing logistical support and helping maintain a communication network for active militants operating in the region.
Legal Action and Investigation
Following the arrests, Srinagar Police has registered a formal case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act.
“The investigation is currently in its initial stage. We are analyzing the mobile phone data and questioning the suspects to identify further links and any planned activities in the city,” an official added.
Security has been further beefed up across Srinagar following this development to ensure public safety and to thwart any attempts at disrupting peace in the summer capital.
