Pulwama, April 14, 2026 — In a major breakthrough against the illegal narcotics trade, the Pulwama Police successfully carried out a targeted operation in the Newa area today. The raid resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the recovery of a significant quantity of contraband substances, marking another step in the ongoing efforts to clean the region of drug-related activities.

The operation was initiated following the receipt of specific and credible information regarding the storage of illegal substances in a residential locality. Acting swiftly on these leads, a dedicated police party from the Newa Police Post (PP) was dispatched to the area.
The team conducted an extensive search at the residential premises belonging to Mohd Younis Sheikh, son of Mohd Yousuf Sheikh, a resident of Newa. The search was conducted with professional diligence to ensure all legal protocols were followed during the recovery process.
Contraband Recovery and Identification
During the thorough inspection of the property, police personnel recovered two distinct types of contraband. The seized material included:
Approximately 110 grams of a substance appearing to be Charas powder.

The apprehended persons have been identified as Younis Ahmad Sheikh and Mahjabeena Akhter, both residents of Newa, Pulwama. They were taken into custody on the spot.
