JKCA Unveils Strategic Cricket Calendar 2026: Trials & Selection Matches Detailed for April-June

Srinagar: The Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has officially announced a massive roadmap for the 2026 cricket season, outlining a series of talent hunts, fitness camps, and high-stakes selection matches. Spanning across the Jammu and Kashmir divisions, this three-month intensive schedule aims to identify and nurture the next generation of cricketing stars from the region.

The announced calendar covers all major age groups, ensuring a professional pathway for both men and women cricketers.

The Season Kick-off: Focus on Women’s Cricket
The cricketing summer begins with a strong emphasis on women’s development.
U-19 Women: A specialized physical fitness and fielding camp will be held at the Hostel Ground, Jammu, from April 20 to April 26. Following this, selection matches are slated for May 6 to May 12 at Barotia.
U-23 & Senior Women: Players in the Kashmir division will undergo training in Srinagar from April 30 to May 6, while Jammu-based players will have their camp from May 25 to May 31.

Path to the Pros: Men’s Senior and U-23 Categories
For those aiming for the senior ranks, the competition is set to be fierce:
Senior Men’s T20: Selection trials will commence in Jammu (May 5–7) and move to Srinagar (May 9–11). Top performers will then compete in trial matches in Jammu starting May 15.
U-23 Men: Deep selection matches are scheduled in two phases—starting in Jammu on April 27 and moving to the iconic Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium, Srinagar, on May 12.

Grassroots Scouting: Junior Boys (U-14, U-16, & U-19)
JKCA’s talent hunt remains the backbone of regional cricket.
U-16 Boys & U-19 Men: Talent hunts will take place at the SK Stadium, Srinagar, between May 9 and May 25.
U-14 Boys: The future stars will be scouted in Srinagar from May 19 to May 24, followed by an extensive Jammu leg in late May and June.

Important Update on Schedule Revisions
In a recent clarification, the JKCA management noted that while the initial trials for U-19 and U-16 boys will proceed as originally planned, the dates for the subsequent trial matches have been rescheduled. Athletes are advised to stay in touch with their respective divisional offices for the revised match dates.

Why This Matters for J&K Cricket
This comprehensive schedule highlights JKCA’s commitment to transparency and merit-based selection. By dividing activities between Jammu and Srinagar, the association ensures that geographical barriers do not hinder local talent from reaching the national stage.

“Players at the Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Srinagar, during a JKCA session. The association has announced a fresh schedule for trials and selection matches for the 2026 season.”
